TRUE WORSHIP INVOLVES WONDER

"Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 18:3
What does ‘becoming like little children’ actually have to do with God's kingdom? Isn't one of our great challenges to assist our children in growing up to become enterprising individuals? Why would anybody want to be a child again?
I believe it has a lot to do with a child's sense of adventure and wonder, that gives them the confidence to believe they can create and do great things. Most young children are not terribly troubled in the area of confidence. It is when they begin to grow older that the pressures of life begin to replace the joy of wonder.
Tests show that a child's creativity, which includes imagination and wonder, diminishes by 90% between ages five and seven! When an adult gets to be 40, he has about 2% of the creativity he had when he was five years old.
We tend to want to accumulate facts about God, and know as much about God as we can possibly learn. This eliminates the need to contemplate the mystery of God. But it is in child-likeness that we discover we are still on a great adventure, in pursuit of God. The object is not to catch Him, but to have Him catch us, and fill us with the fullness of Christ.
As for me, I desire to have the little boy down deep inside, continually stepping out into new adventures. I want to be overwhelmed by new revelations of God, by the Holy Spirit, on passages that I have read 100 times.
True worship involves wonder.
