There Has To Be More

I discovered early on in my faith that God’s purpose in my life was not to make me successful. He was looking for someone who would handle the Word responsibly, without using the ministry for self exaltation.

God alone is worthy of exaltation. 

I always believed that worship was more important than my preaching. Yes,  preaching plays a very important role in the life of the church, and ultimately anointed preaching will lead others to discover the true worship of God. 

Knowledge in and of itself will do little to develop a heart of worship. It is when the Holy Spirit anoints the message to create a hunger for drawing close to God, that what is most important has been accomplished. 

1 Corinthians 8:1 NLT

…Yes, we know that "we all have knowledge" about this issue. But while knowledge makes us feel important, it is love that strengthens the church.

We can apply this verse to many aspects of our Christian walk. Is the purpose of my many years of studying the Word to accumulate more facts about God to pass on to others, or does my study draw me into an intimate relationship with God. 

Walk not only with God but in his creation.
