The Bible's Impact on My Life

How have I been personally impacted by the Gospel?

When I was younger I had all the symptoms of having the Gospel. I went to church, I prayed, I spoke openly about Jesus in our home and my family thought I was the most spiritual in our household.

By the age of 15 I was in hot pursuit of the world and God had become a burden to me. I was 26 years old when God called me out of the darkness of the world that I was living into his marvelous light. I am living proof that men cannot with all his self efforts save himself. If God had not chosen me, if He had not called me, I would be eternally lost and destined for hell.

By the age of 30 I had overcome my skepticism and I was committed fully to the truth of the Gospel.

By the age of 40 I had now been in the ministry eight years, and I saw my share of Christians who demonstrated little resemblance to Jesus. These were some of my hardest years of conflict and warfare, much of it coming from God’s people. With all this bad news I discovered that there was nothing as good as the gospel.

By the age of 50, I was fully engaged in enjoying the true meaning of being a father, with four additions to our family, with Erin arriving from Korea in 1983, Judah born in 1984, Caleb in 1988 and Kaitlyn in 1993. I found that nothing could be compared to the joy of the Gospel.

By age 60, I was looking back at the near completion of God’s command to acquire all this land for his glory. This would prove to be some of my weakest years with several health issues. Without carnal methods, I saw God provide for what He had purposed many years earlier. I was experiencing the strength of the Gospel.

By the age of 70 I had now been a part of the ministry and dedicated my life to God for almost forty years.

Now, I am older still. I am about to celebrate my 81st birthday and yet I still feel

very much like that little boy on the farm in Jasper, Michigan. I desperately needed God and didn’t know how to get there, now I know God and I want to stay there.

This will be my hope of the Gospel.

Pastor Mike

I have found purpose, hope and joy in God's word.
