Jesus In The Window

I spent my first two years as a Christian studying the 39 books of the Old Testament. These 39 books shaped the way I see Jesus, and God's plan to bring us into a relationship with Himself. 

The Old Testament is like a large window with many individual panes of framed glass. As I look out the window, I see the broader landscape before me. Every single pane reveals a smaller portion of the whole scene. In the picture above, I'm looking out the window on the broader view, and if I wait long enough, the individual panes will begin to change. It's easy to see the two fawns step into the picture, but you need to zoom in to view the male and female Bluebirds sitting on their house. The lower left picture looks like an old stump; look closer and you will discover the shy pileated woodpecker. 

When I look out the window of the Old Testament's 39 books, I see Jesus, with each pane or book revealing a different view of Jesus. In Genesis, Jesus is the Creator of heaven and earth. Leviticus ushers in a new covenant through Jesus' blood; Ruth pictures Jesus as our Redeemer.  Psalms reveal Jesus as our Shepherd.  Jesus gives us wisdom for living life in Ecclesiastes. Isaiah teaches Jesus paid the price for my sin against God. Daniel proclaims Jesus is returning to set up His Kingdom. All 39 books reveal some aspect of Jesus. 

It may not be evident at first glance, but when you look more closely through these 39 windowpanes of Scripture, you will discover Jesus up close.
