Eat, Drink & be Merry

Excessive knowledge can be exhausting. Being overly righteous can lead to pride, arrogance, and ultimately self-righteousness. Also, pursuing success without seeking God can lead to dangerous extremes.

Ecclesiastes encourages us to find joy and contentment along our journey, accepting each day with its allotted share of work, food, and pleasure. The preacher says:

“When all has been heard, the end of the matter is: fear God [worship Him with awe-filled reverence, knowing that He is almighty God] and keep His commandments, for this applies to every person.” Ecclesiastes 12:13 AMP

This is one of the greatest lessons I have learned that I can hand down to those who come after me.

“So go ahead. Eat your food with joy, and drink your wine with a happy heart, for God approves of this!” Ecclesiastes 9:7 NLT

When getting ahead takes over your life—leaving no room for family meals or everyday joys—it’s time to reevaluate your walk with Jesus.
