I Was Guilty As Charged

I find myself in Roman’s 1, standing before heavens court representing myself, and I was found guilty. Abraham Lincoln said, “A man who Is his own lawyer has a fool for a client.”
Roman’s 3 explains why I couldn’t escape the guilty verdict.
“For ALL have sinned and FALL SHORT of the glory of GOD.” Romans 3:23 God’s judgment is clear, I was guilty as charged. Rather than being my own advocate, I needed an advocate who had direct access to God to represent me in Heaven’s court.
Looking back I had this sense that God was real from the time I was a young boy, but I wanted to live my life without consequences. That is the real crux of the matter before us. We want to live our lives without consequences and still enjoy the benefits, if God really does exists.
Then I came face to face with God, the righteous judge of the whole earth, and it left me without any excuse. I was caught in my own self-deception.
It still amazes me that He extended unconditional love to me when I wanted nothing to do with Him. This is where grace and forgiveness are indescribable in the truest sense of divine love. In spite of my resistance to acknowledge God as sovereign, He acknowledged me as His child and adopted me into His family.
Galatians 4:4-5 NLT
“But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. [5] God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children.”
He declares that He purposed my salvation before He laid the foundation blocks for planet earth, or anything was created. Thank You JESUS for being my Advocate and paying the ultimate price to represent me in Heaven’s court. I am forever grateful!

So appreciated this lesson, as it confirms what He told me. While dealing with life long issues with one of our adult children, Holy Spirit one morning (3am) shared with me that I'm so busy trying to do the right thing, that I'm not leaving room for Him to work. Ouch...truth indeed was spoken, heard and received.
So enjoy these 'Coffee with Jesus' moments Pastor Mike!
