Our Words Matter
Proverbs 25:11 has been the guiding compass for how I communicate with others for as long as I can remember: “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver.”
To me, this imagery represents something of great value. I can picture golden apples artistically encased in twisted strands of polished silver. Whether you imagine it as a table centerpiece, a delicate piece of jewelry, or a striking work of art on a wall, it naturally commands attention.
I have often thought, would I be willing to have my words presented in gold, and displayed in a silver frame where people could read them? That’s bold!
When my words are tarnished, the Holy Spirit reminds me to grab the polish and restore the shine to my words. There is no better polish than the Word of God.
