You are facing a foreboding situation, you don’t want to appear fearful, but deep inside, trepidation is banging on your door. You question if you dare to make a stand. Courage is not the absence of fear. Courage is trusting God and refusing to submit to fear which can paralyze you into unbelief and inaction.
King David, who wrote many Psalms said, “When I am afraid, I will trust in the Lord.” David demonstrated an honest and humble approach to his many fears. Like David, I have experienced God‘s intervention many times when I thought I was going under. In those moments I couldn’t trust myself, I couldn’t place my faith in others to deliver me; I had to trust God.
It may not be a matter of pressing danger, you may need the courage to do what is right. If you know what is the right thing to do and refuse to do it, then you may be facing the fear of people, where you are more concerned about how others view you than doing what you know you should do. The Bible says that the fear of man brings a snare while trusting God brings confidence. Don’t allow fear to ensnare or entrap you.
Here are areas where you will need courage: in your marriage, with your children, being single, work-related challenges, money matters, leadership decisions, health issues, resisting temptation, asking forgiveness and many other things could be added to the list…
When you face the next troubling situation, where will the courage you need come from? When it comes and it will, I will need God. And so will you!
